PHUKET
DAY 7:

Worst rain and thunderstorm all night long, windows were shaking form the massive crashes of thunder. Woke up to a very gloomy day...all day :-( Went for a short stroll along the beach and had lunch in a street stall called ''The Red Duck''. Mrs F asked for Thai fat noodles with beef and Mr F, chicken pad Thai. Mrs F discovered that Thai fat noodles are big, nasty slimy things, guessing the same sort of texture of oysters! So Mr F kindly swapped his lunch.....and later had upset belly! On the plus side, we decided on our next destination and Phil booked our transport to ''Koh Samui'', another Thai island. We had the option of getting a plane for 75 pounds each, journey taking 1hr 15mins or taking the bus for 5hrs, then the ferry for 1hr costing 10 pounds each. We went for the backpackers budget option! Also we didn't wanna keep taking the easy option of flying from place to place, but to experience some rough travelling. Please God its a safe, rough travel!  Hopefully tomorrow's weather will brighten up......

DAY 8:

Nope, weather no better today! It rained really hard first thing and Mr F had to time it to perfection to go out and get our breakfast. There's a bakery just down the road where we buy croissants. We heat them up in the microwave in our room with a cup of coffee every morning. We didn't get out till early afternoon, but just went for a short walk to get some supplies. Got back in the hotel and went for a dip in the pool.....not an overly exciting day......

Black, gloomy clouds covering the sky

The boys on the other hand are very much enjoying themselves :-)

DAY6:

Brilliant day today, even though the weather was mostly cloudy and rainy, its been a good day.....

Set out on the moped again this morning in search of ''The Big Buddha", which is on one of the highest points on the island. Mrs F had to abide by the rules in order to get in and get a good picture, therefore covering her shoulders with a loaned scarf at the entry point. Surprised to find that scarf loan and entry was free. After a few pics and a 360 walk around The Big Buddha, it started to really rain on our return to the moped.
We toughed it out and Mr F drove extra carefully to get us back down safely.

  Found this sign quite amusing!

Saw this monkey on the steps leading up/down to The Buddha.

Mrs F getting ready to brave the rain

Even in Thailand we can't escape...They just get everywhere don't they!!

We stopped at an Elephant safari ride and paid 24pounds to ride on an elephant for 20mins, but we actually got 35mins :-) They were all looked after quite well and looked healthy so we didn't mind paying to have the privilege of riding one. The keeper sat on the elephants head while we were on a seat that was strapped on his back and took us on a very bumpy ride around the jungle....lots of insect repellent was worn!

The keeper jumped off, took our camera and took lots of pics and told Mrs F she could sit on the elephants head......HOW COOL!!!

Here comes our elephant and ride....
Our path through the jungle....

Mr F with our elephant....and still with burn limbs!

     Feeding them bananas...

After the elephants, we took a cruise along the coast to the most southerly tip of Phuket, called ''Phromthep Cape'' Then we drove through ''Patong'', which is a very touristy part of the island with lots of clubs, pubs and bars (Not our scene at all!) To end our day, we went to Karon beach in time for a stunning sunset before heading off to Dukes bar for dinner.....Great day! :-)

Love this picture of us :-)

Saw this sign on way to Dukes....were guessing it
means you can only park every other day!??

Mrs F with an elderflower cocktail....

DAY 5:

Woke up to a really gloomy day that quickly turned into a scorcher. We wanted to get around and see more of the island, so we decided to hire a moped that cost 4 quid for the day! Mr F hasn't ridden a bike since he was 20 and Mrs F, who had to get on the back, had no idea of his bike riding capabilities! But he drove really well only having two near misses with locals that wasn't is fault....apparently!  We stopped off at one of the viewpoints further down the coast and took some pictures of the stunning view.......

Mr F with our hired moped.

Some sort of elephant/Buddhist type shrine thing!!

We loved just cruising around and seeing the island for ourselves, stopped off for a couple of fresh mixed fruit drinks and carried on cruising. Once we had stopped for lunch, we realised how deceptful it can be on the bike when you've got the cool breeze blowing over you when actually its roasting! Luckily we both wore suncream but was overheating whilst eating lunch. Since we loved our day on the bike so much, we plan to hire it for another day to go the most southern point on the island....to be continued. All in all, an awesome day :-)

Just to keep you updated on Mr F's ever developing ''Skin colour watch''
