A FEW PICS OF KATHMANDU
Shonas treking shop where Mrs F bought her walking pole and hired a down jacket for just 30p per day!
Mrs F enjoying some quality and much needed vitamin D on the balcony of our hotel with a banana smoothie...yummy!
A stall with lots of merchandise for tourists...mainly rubbish! Every morning the stalls would be set up with all the stuff and every night it would all get packed away again.
One of many rickshaws.
Everyday we would dominate the lounge and watch DVDs from the hotel's impressive collection. However we had to work around when the power was switched on, as the electricity is controlled by the Nepalese government as a show of power....no pun intended!
Mr F reading his Kathmandu post....he can't read Nepalese, it was an English paper, just in case you thought he was more clever than he is!
We visited a place called 'The Garden Of Dreams' that was a beautiful big garden, funded by the Austrian government to build. Kathmandu isn't the most attractive of places to say the least, but in the middle of all the crazy traffic and fast living was the garden....
Mr F went for a haircut at a local barbers that was roughly the same size as a small walk in wardrobe. Costing only £1.60, it was better than some haircuts he's had back in London and for much more money! Alot of locals kept asking if he was in the army after that and one local actually saluted him!
VERDICT OF KATHMANDU:
MR F: Crazy place, especially the traffic. Wouldn't recommend more than a couple of days here. Hotel was good (Sacred Valley) would recommend anyone to stay here. All in all, glad to move on.
MRS F: Not much to do around the town other than have a look in the little stalls and shops that sell pretty much the same stuff. On the whole, I didn't rate Kathmandu too much - its really just somewhere to stay before and after going on a trekking trip, but nothing more. On the plus side, the staff at our hotel were awesome - all really friendly and you could have a laugh with them and would do anything for you.
