DAY 5:
We decided to it would be good to go to the Aratiatia rapids to see the dam open at 10am and then head straight back on the road from there to Auckland. We walked up to a view point and watched the water rush through the open dam. It was a beautiful sunny morning and was able to see some lovely views from where we were standing.....
We got to Auckland and checked ourself into The Jucy hotel/hostel where we made yet another spag bol and watched Ireland vs The All Blacksgot. There were loads of Irish lurking around town who had came all the way over to specifically watch the rugby. After the rugby, we hit the sack as we had to be up early to catch the 12hr scenic train to Wellington the next day.
Our road trip mapped out in balck pen.....
JOURNEY TO WELLINGTON
We had heard from loads of people that the scenic train to Wellington had some really stunning views so we were quite looking forward to it. We were able to stand outside and take a few pics but mainly took them from our seats. We went over a few viaducts which was really beautiful and the hills along the way were also good to see....
Our train journey.....
Muggles and Buggles on the train :-)
