HUE
We arrived at the bus station and thought we were miles away from our hotel, 'Orchid' looking at the map in The Lonely Planet. So we flagged down a taxi driver and agreed 60,000 Dong (2pounds) to take us. On a rare occasion, The Lonely Planet's map was wrong....we were just around the corner form the bus station! But the driver still wanted 60,000, even though his meter said 15,000 so Mr F gave him 50,000.
We had a welcome drink and biscuits before taken to our room, which was lovely. We had a bowl of fruit that was changed everyday and fresh towels that were made up into different animals each day. There was a DVD player with a wide selection of DVD's to chose from....and a computer for updated the blog! :-)
That night, we ate at an Indian restaurant called Shiva, which was surprisingly really nice. There's quite alot of travelers in Hue, as the night time demonstrated with all the backpackers bars.
HUE
DAY 1:
We walked along to the river and over the bridge to The Forbidden City. It's a little city within Hue where previous emperors and their families lived. This was also bombed during the war, so most of the buildings that were there are destroyed. Some have undergone reconstruction and there are plans to completely reconstruct the entire city.
The entrance to The Forbidden City.....
For 5p you can feed the feed a bag of pellets.......
What the city looked like before it was bombed.....
Dark clouds rolling in on one side of us.....
.......Blue skies on the other the side of us!
Empty grounds spolit with sand bags and rubbish
Reconstruction work undergoing to rebuild the city.....
