MUI NE to DALAT
Another mini bus journey, 4hrs from the
coast of Mui Ne to the inlands of Dalat costing 120,000 Dong each, which
sounds alot but is only 3 pounds! We either went via the back way or
the only way...we'd like to think it was the only way- the roads were
narrow, unfinished and very windy going up and across the mountain. With
only inches between the bus and a very large drop,it was a bit nerve
racking at times! Our driver however was very considerate when driving
over all the lumps and bumps.
We dumped the rucksacks in our room (very nice) and went to get some dinner at the 'V-Bar' just down the road. A very nice blues restaurant, much like Frankie and Bennies. The lasange that Mrs F had however was very much below par :-( Mr F's pizza in his words was 'lush'.

We were warned by our hotel that there was a
big group of people also staying at the hotel and that they may be
noisy leaving in the morning. 3am, at job lot of inconsiderate Chinese
people were slamming doors, shouting, stomping downstairs and past our
room which was en route to reception. This went on until 7:30am, at
which point Mr F went to reception to complain. We were upgraded to a
superior room on the top floor, away from all the noise.
DALAT
DAY 1:
The Lonely planet described Dalat as the honeymoon destination for most
Vietnamese and that there's quite a bit to see and do. Admittedly it is a
prettier part of Vietnam, but apart form a couple of walkable points of
interest, there was nothing there! We walked first to the cathedral
that was impressive from the outside but closed form the public. Then we
walked to a hotel and tourist attraction called 'The Crazy House'. It's
got lots of roller coaster type stairs leading to all sorts of
different rooms and you can stay there 30 - 80 pounds a night. It was more like a big kids funhouse more than a lodgings!
We asked for a pot of tea at the V-Bar....and that's exactly what we got!
After that there wasn't anything left to see or do other than walk all the way around the lake, which took an hour. We walked around the recommended market which was mỏe like a jumble sale - loads of clothes on the floor for you to rummage through of fruit...that's it!
We just made it back to the V-Bar before a massive downpour and went back to our new upgraded room for the rest of the afternoon and evening.
When it rains a Vietnam....it rains!
